Training camp recap!!!!
I truly had the best time! Gainesville, Georgia is where all my brothers and sisters in Christ from different squads came together to lift up and glorify God! This is where we also became equipped to go into the nations and spread the gospel! This was truly a great experience and great preparation for the field.
Going into training camp, I knew it was going to be different. I knew there would be challenges, uncomfortable moments, and things I wasn’t used to. But I don’t think I fully understood just how much God was going to use those things to change my heart.
Training camp was definitely not luxurious. We took bucket shower, which meant filling up a bucket with cold water from a hose and using a little cup to pour the water over ourselves. We used porta potties, slept in tents, and somehow tried to sleep when it was around 93 degrees outside. There were moments when I was hot, tired, uncomfortable, and honestly just ready for a real shower and a comfortable bed.
But somewhere in the middle of all of that, God started changing my perspective.
Things that I normally take for granted suddenly felt like huge blessings. Turning on a faucet and having warm water, taking a shower whenever I want, having a clean bathroom, sleeping in a bed with air conditioning, drinking cold ice water, and having a comfortable home to come back to.
Things I had never really thought twice about became things I found myself thanking God for.
And I realized just how easy it is to become comfortable and forget how blessed we truly are.
But training camp wasn't really about the bucket showers, the porta potties, or sleeping in a hot tent. Those things were simply the circumstances God used to get my attention.
The Holy Spirit was moving in that camp.
There was something so powerful about being surrounded by people who were all there for the same purpose — to know Jesus more, to surrender to Him, and to prepare to share His love with others around the world. There were moments of worship, prayer, teaching, and conversations where I could genuinely feel God working in everyone’s hearts.
And I could definitely feel Him working in mine!!!!!
I came into camp with my heart ready to learn, but I left with my heart open to receive so much more from the Lord.
I found myself realizing that sometimes God has to remove the distractions and comforts around us so that we can truly hear Him. When life becomes simple, you have more room to focus on what actually matters.
And what matters is Jesus.
A couple nights in, our amazing coaches (Derrick and Laura) took us to an ice cream shop and we ate ice cream and went around sharing testimonies! This was a beautiful moment that only made our squad get closer!! We also got the opportunity to pray over some men who were there as well! Hallelujah!
One of the nights we had the opportunity to baptize anyone who felt lead by the Holy Spirit to show their commitment in pursuing the Lord wholeheartedly. That night I got to see some of my new closest friends get baptized!
We also had sabbath one of the days, which consisted in going to a downtown square where we went in a coffee shop and did our personal devotions. After, we walked in lots of the shops, as well as had lunch at a pizza place!! This day was so awesome to adventure out of the camp and explore!
One of the days we were able to hike mount Yonah as a squad!! it was so beautiful! We had the joy of roasting hotdogs over the fire at the top!!
These are just a few of the many highlights from training camp!! I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers and truly have felt covered by them all! Thank you for reading this and staying involved with my amazing time so far!!
ALL GLORY BE TO GOD!
